Alan Nixon has hinted that Leeds United may not face much competition in their pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Jean-Kevin Augustin.
What did he say?
Phil Hay has reported that things are looking positive for Leeds’ pursuit of the Frenchman, who has been with Monaco throughout the first half of the season.
The indication is that it will be arranged for his loan spell with the Ligue 1 outfit to be terminated before he moves to the Championship high-flyers.
Nixon has also had his say on the proceedings, hinting why Leeds are unlikely to face too much competition for the 22-year-old.

Hoping for changing fortunes
Nixon is certainly right in saying that Augustin has not had a good start to the campaign – it has been anticlimactic after his loan move was completed.
He has made just two Ligue 1 starts at Monaco, coming off the bench a further eight times, totalling just 280 minutes in which he’s failed to get any goals or assists.
The 22-year-old has managed one strike in all competitions, which came in a Coupe de la Ligue victory over Marseille.
If his move to Leeds is completed, there will be hope that the Frenchman is able to turn his fortunes around at Elland Road.
Following Eddie Nketiah’s recall to Arsenal, Patrick Bamford has been Leeds’ only real striker option, so Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping for someone who can compete with the Englishman to get into the side, while supporting him in the goalscoring department.

Bamford has ten goals and two assists this term, but has failed to score in any of his last four league appearances for the club.
Augustin’s arrival could act as a real boost for Leeds’ promotion hopes if he can get going in white.
Meanwhile, FFC has suggested that Victor Orta has to prove himself.
